A digital strategy consultant
who measures before deciding.

Your website, CRM, accounting, payments and search should work as one system. Most businesses bought them one at a time and never connected them. We map what you have, find what is actually costing you, and give you a plan for what to build, fix and connect — in the order that pays back first.

Begin the Conversation

Digital strategy, for a small or mid-sized business, is deciding what to build, fix and connect across your website, CRM, accounting, payments and search — and in what order. Axesris diagnoses first, measures what each system is actually doing, then delivers a systems map, a prioritized roadmap, build-or-buy decisions and coordination with your vendors.

Most owners do not lack tools. They have a website from one agency, a CRM someone set up three years ago, QuickBooks run by the bookkeeper, a payment processor, a shipping app and a handful of plugins nobody remembers installing. Each tool works on its own. The business still runs on someone re-typing orders, chasing payments by email and guessing which marketing works.

The usual response is to buy another tool, or to rebuild the website. Sometimes that is right. Often it is the most expensive way to avoid the real problem — which is usually a missing connection, a broken process, or data nobody is recording. You cannot tell which until you measure.

That is the whole method. We do not prescribe before we diagnose. Every engagement starts with the same paid audit described on our home page: a real look at your data, your workflows and your numbers, not a slide deck. The systems audit is the diagnostic. Strategy is what you do with it.

Some owners call this role a fractional CTO — a senior person who owns technical decisions part-time, without a full-time salary. We will not pretend to be your executive. But the work is similar: we hold the whole picture, make the calls on what to build or buy, and keep the vendors pointed in the same direction. And because we also build, the plan is grounded in what things actually cost to do.

/ What We Deliver

Business systems strategy you can hand to anyone.

01 · Systems Map

A plain diagram of every tool you run and how data moves between them — website, forms, CRM, QuickBooks Online, payments, shipping, email, analytics. Where it connects, where someone re-keys it, and where it simply stops.

02 · Measured Findings

What each system is actually doing, with numbers: page speed, lead capture, conversion tracking, invoice accuracy, payment timing, data quality. Problems are listed with what they cost, not just that they exist.

03 · Prioritized Roadmap

What to fix, build and connect, in order. Each step says what it solves, what it depends on, and roughly how large it is. The first items are the ones that stop money leaking; the later ones are the ones that grow it.

04 · Build-or-Buy Decisions

For each gap: use what you already pay for, buy an off-the-shelf connector, or build something custom. We say which, and why — including when the answer is to do nothing.

05 · Website and CRM Strategy

How the website should capture and hand off leads and orders, which CRM fits the way you sell — HubSpot, Zoho CRM or Quickbase — and how pipelines, deal stages and reporting should be set up so the team uses them.

06 · Vendor Coordination

One person who talks to your host, your bookkeeper, your CRM admin and any other developer — so changes in one system do not quietly break another, and nobody is waiting on someone else to go first.

/ How It Works

Diagnose, decide, then build.

  1. Paid auditData, workflows and numbers reviewed
  2. Systems mapEvery tool and hand-off drawn
  3. MeasurementEach suspected problem tested
  4. DecisionsBuild, buy, fix or leave alone
  5. RoadmapSteps ordered by payback
  6. DeliveryWe build it, or coordinate who does

Nothing gets built until the measurement says it is worth building.

/ Decisions We've Made

Three calls that came from measuring, not guessing.

01 · No rebuild, no new host

An established WooCommerce store with 58 plugins and 94 code snippets felt slow, and a rebuild or a host change looked like the obvious answer. Measurement ruled both out. The fixes went into the existing store instead: mobile homepage load (LCP) from 6.5s to 3.1s, page weight from 1.06MB to 403KB, cart response from 4.2s to 2.0s, desktop requests from 189 to 23. The same audit found a leftover host plugin silently blocking all updates, a cache leak serving unlocked prices to every guest, and none of three cart-recovery systems working. None of those findings needed a rebuild to fix.

02 · Custom over the marketplace connector

A B2B wholesale distributor needed Zoho CRM quotes to become QuickBooks Online invoices. Off-the-shelf connectors existed. We chose a custom Deluge path — a 971-line function — because the invoice had to match the quote to the cent, and if it did not, the system had to refuse and open a high-priority task rather than send a wrong bill. The same project's audit found 16 of 21 invoices had been edited after sending, and $2,697.15 of sales tax wrongly charged to 15 out-of-state buyers. Invoices now generate in seconds; around $391k across roughly 106 quotes moved through it in 30 days.

03 · No database, and HubSpot's free tier

A business that sells both online and in person needed checkout, a CRM pipeline and customer updates. We deliberately skipped a separate database and kept HubSpot on its free tier. Stripe webhooks write the contact, deal and line items straight into HubSpot. Because stage-change automations needed a paid plan, we built a one-minute poller instead — customers get an email within about a minute of a card moving on the 9-stage board. Fewer moving parts, no new subscription.

/ Problems We Fix

Where strategy usually goes wrong.

Rebuilding to fix a process problem. A new website will not fix leads that are never assigned to anyone, or orders typed twice. Find the break first.

Tools nobody owns. When the CRM, the accounting file and the website each belong to a different vendor, nobody notices when one change breaks the hand-off between them. We have found a removed sync still holding 497 customer emails, and affiliate links returning errors for 101 affiliates — each invisible to whoever was looking at only their own piece.

Decisions without data. One business had analytics showing zero conversions from thousands of sessions. The traffic was real; the tracking was broken. Every marketing decision made from that report was a guess. Fixing measurement often comes before anything else on the roadmap.

Paying for features you do not need. Upgrading a plan to get one automation, or buying a connector that cannot handle your edge cases. Sometimes the right move is a small custom piece; sometimes it is using the plan you already have properly.

Prices that disagree between systems. When the website, the quote and the invoice each compute price on their own, they drift. We have fixed an order quoted at $1,910 being charged on $1,575. One source of truth is a strategy decision, not a coding detail.

/ Questions

Digital strategy, answered.

What does a digital strategy consultant do for a small business?

A digital strategy consultant looks at your website, CRM, accounting, payments and marketing as one system, finds where it breaks or wastes money, and gives you an ordered plan for what to build, fix and connect. At Axesris that plan comes from a paid audit and measurement, and includes a systems map, a prioritized roadmap and build-or-buy decisions.

Do I need a fractional CTO?

If nobody in the business owns the technical decisions — which tools to buy, how they connect, which vendor does what — you need someone filling that role, part-time. We do that work: we hold the full picture, make build-or-buy calls and coordinate vendors. We do not claim an executive title; we take responsibility for the systems.

Should I rebuild my website or fix the one I have?

Measure first. Speed, lead capture and tracking problems can usually be fixed in place, and a rebuild does not fix broken processes behind the site. We have taken an existing store's mobile load time from 6.5 seconds to 3.1 after measurement ruled out a rebuild. Sometimes a rebuild is right — the numbers will say so.

What is a website and CRM strategy?

It is the plan for how your website captures leads and orders, how they reach your CRM, who gets assigned, what stages a deal moves through, and how sales connect to invoicing and reporting. It covers which CRM fits — HubSpot, Zoho CRM or Quickbase — and how to set it up so your team uses it.

How much does a digital strategy engagement cost?

Strategy work is scoped per project, because it depends on how many systems you run and how deep the audit needs to go. Every engagement begins with a paid audit, and you get a clear scope and number before anything further is agreed.

Do you also build what the strategy recommends?

Yes, if you want us to. We build websites, CRM setups, QuickBooks and payment integrations, and search work. But the roadmap is yours to use however you like — with us, with your existing vendors, or in-house. Where other vendors are involved, we coordinate with them.
